ABOUT THE CGMC

GENERAL OVERVIEW

The CGMC is a annual, online conference hosted through Zoom in early July. It is open to all female-identifying and nonbinary students from grade 7 up to grade 12. The event will consist of a written contest, keynote speaker seminars, detailed solution explanations, and a fun group activity.

The contest consists of 15 multiple-choice questions and 5 short-answer problems ordered by increasing difficulty. The multiple choice questions in the Junior, Intermediate, and Senior divisions correspond to the difficulties of the AMC 8, AMC 10, and AMC 12, while the short answer problems range from early to mid-AIME level difficulty. Participants will have 90 minutes to complete the contest. Calculators are permitted.

Note: Grade is determined by grade TO BE enrolled into in the upcoming September. Graduating high school Class of 2026 students are ineligible to participate.

Younger students who wish to write a higher-level contest may do so.

Speakers

The CGMC features speakers from diverse areas of mathematics and STEM, offering participants a broader perspective on where math can lead. These sessions highlight academic pathways, career opportunities, and personal experiences, helping students understand the real-world impact of mathematical thinking and feel more confident exploring it themselves.

Solution Take-up

After the contest, participants will attend a solution take-up session where problems are carefully explained step by step by the organizers. This allows students to check their answers, learn new problem-solving strategies and evade common pitfalls. The focus is on learning and growth, ensuring that every participant leaves with stronger problem-solving skills.

Group Activity

The conference concludes with a collaborative group activity designed to be engaging and interactive. Participants are placed in small groups to work together on a fun puzzle set, encouraging communication, teamwork, and connection.

RECOGNITION

The participants with the top 3 scores in each division will receive recognition and monetary prizes!
